Black Friday Car Deals: From $99 to Under $10k

Instructions

As the days tick by and Thanksgiving approaches, Black Friday is just around the corner. Savvy shoppers are gearing up to explore the numerous cut-price deals available in malls and online. But as this TikTok video shows, don't forget about your local car dealerships.

Uncover the Truth Behind Black Friday Car Deals

Section 1: The $99 Car Deal

In a viral clip with 409,500 views, RohrmanToyota's TikTok account (@rohrmantoyota) announced an astonishing deal - a car for just $99. Standing in front of a whiteboard, the creator explained, "We sold the $99 car last year and are doing it again this year. Everyone's asking if it's really $99, so let's break it down." The video then zoomed out to reveal a range of figures on the whiteboard. The sales price is $99, the doc fee is $245.26, the state of Indiana's title fee is $37.50, and the 7% sales tax is $24.10. "Your total out the door for the $99 car is $405.88," the creator concluded. "It's not a fake or misleading deal. Pay your state fees and get a car for $99 - what more could you ask for?"

This deal has attracted a lot of attention, but not all commenters are convinced. One person wrote, "Typical. Walking out of the dealer at 4 times the price you expected." Another asked, "Chat. Why not just say it's a car for $405.88?" And a third questioned the payable tax, asking, "How are you going to tax a tax? Shouldn't the 7% sales tax only be on the $99 price of the car?"

Despite the skepticism, others urged the TikToker to ignore the negative comments. One commenter wrote, "People are actually complaining about a $400 car in 2024. Wow." Another added, "People complain about cars but don't bat an eye when their $6 coffee becomes $7.54." And a third quipped, "If you sold a car for $1, someone would offer $0.50. People are so miserable."

Section 2: RohrmanToyota's Viral Videos

RohrmanToyota isn't new to going viral. The account frequently publishes videos revealing dealership red flags and industry secrets, such as why they "keep your keys" during trade-in negotiations. Most recently, they went viral for a video in which they explained (via a skit) that the best way to save money at the car dealership is to mention the invoice-buying program. This is when you offer to buy the car at the same rate the dealership got it from the merchant, which gives a lot of room for negotiation.

In an emailed statement, a representative for Rohrman Toyota wrote, "We have more than just the $99 car. We'll have cars for $499, $799, $1,299, and several under $2k and under $5k, and 15-20 under $10k. Our GM is amazing, and we currently have a person camping out to win the $99 car, and I hope he does."
